Pests Are in the Air

It's spring, the scent of flowers is in the air.  As temperatures rise and days get longer, plants start to grow and so do the populations of insects and mites lurking in them.

Overnight, spider mites and their webs appear. This is the time to take control over your pesky pest population!

Some plants are more susceptible to certain insects and mites.  Once you spot pests or even if you just suspect them, take control!

• Use pruners, scissors to snip off and remove the worst of the pests.
• Pick off insects with alcohol-soaked cotton swab, cloth or wipe them off with baby wipes.
• Squishing aphids and scale with soapy fingers is another quick removal method 
• Isolate infected plants as much as possible
• Cleaning with a mixture of ivory soap (small squirt) 50% rubbing alcohol and 50% water.  Mix in a small sprayer and spray the undersides and tops of foliage until the mixture runs off
