In August 2011, Monica Blair celebrates her 25th Anniversary with Buckingham Greenery!

Monica is our Director of Horticultural Services!

Her responsibilities include everything from training personnel to diagnosing plant concerns but her favorite part of the job is that she is always either teaching something new or learning something new herself.

"I enjoy interaction with our clients and their willingness to learn about or try something new with our plant material."

Curious to learn more about Monica's love of plants and animals?

Monica’s love of plants and animals began with spending time with her Mother and Grandmother in the family garden.  After studying horticulture in school, she moved on to work as Specialty Crop Grower at a local greenhouse working with several blooming crops including poinsettias.

Buckingham Greenery was coming in to purchase plant material.  We got to talking and I was offered a job as Service Technician.  The company was young and we had to learn a lot as we went along.”

One of the most important things Monica learned since coming to Buckingham Greenery is that plants are not only aesthetically pleasing, but a necessity in creating a healthy atmosphere.

Now I stop to appreciate outdoor plants and know they are critical to our existence.  Plants are equally important to indoor space as they remove harmful chemicals and toxins and provide sound barriers and reduce our stress.”

Monica’s favorite plant is the ming aralia.

“The ming aralia can be both graceful and delicate, or bold and beautiful.   It always makes a statement.”

Franklin Federal Holiday Testimonial

As usual, everything is beautiful again this year. We think so highly of the quality of work that Buckingham Greenery does. Every year we say we think that particular year is our favorite. The [Christmas] decorations exceed our expectations, which is hard to do because throughout the years you all have set a very high standard for yourselves to top! The installers were neat, professional and moved throughout the building quickly and did what they needed to do. At this point, we couldn't think of having anyone else do our decorations as we are so pleased. I would rate you all a 9 – only because if we gave you a 10 there wouldn't be any leeway for improvement (but the margin for improvement is very small).
