Centra Health is Centra Health is a complex health care organization dedicated to improving the health of Virginia.

Centra Health has been working with our Buckingham Greenery Team for over 27 years.

We spoke with Beverly Daniels, Centra Business Center Material Management, about her overall experience with Buckingham Greenery: 

• What do you feel are the main benefits of having live green plants in your office? Live plants add beauty and interest to a space. I feel they are more appealing to the eye than silk plants. 
• How do live plants compliment the environment for health and wellness? The beautiful gardens provide a distraction to our patients and visitors and provide benefits of clean air. Studies have shown that patients that have rooms with a view of plants recover faster, require less pain medication, lower their blood pressure and reduces stress
• How do live plants add to the work environment in your office? Have you ever felt they improved morale or productivity among you and your coworkers? Why or why not Live plants beautify a space 365 days per year. They promote a positive perception of the workplace 
• Do you receive any comments from employees or visitors regarding the live plants? What do they say? Occasionally a patient or visitor will ask our volunteers about a plant in a particular space. Dawn or Betty Jo are quick to find out this information and email me a picture of the plant which I can pass along to Volunteer Services to relay to the person inquiring. 
• What do you find to be the benefits of utilizing the Horticultural Services of Buckingham Greenery? (Maintenance of the plants) Nancy does a wonderful job caring for our plants. She works well with staff and promptly addresses any concerns she may have. 
• Does Buckingham Greenery provide Christmas decorations for your office space?  If so, what is your favorite part and how do they enhance your office space during the holiday season? What are the benefits of having them decorate for you rather than doing it yourself? Betty Jo Taylor specified beautiful plants for our indoor garden at the Pearson Cancer Center.    The garden is adorned with poinsettias during the holidays.   Janet Bowyer, Manager of Radiation Oncology states she is pleased with the service that Nancy provides to keep their garden looking nice
• Do you have a favorite plant, container or even group of plants at the office? If so, why do these stand out? (location, color, size, etc.)  Aglaonemas, Pothos and Peace Lillys are just a few plants to mention that beautify our facilities.
